Peter Shaindlin

Chief Operating Officer

Peter Shaindlin is recognized as one of the leading visionaries and change agents in the global luxury hospitality industry. Shaindlin oversees all aspects of company operations, development and business strategy. Shaindlin has achieved international recognition for developing and managing iconic brands and properties and for inspiring organizations to achieve their fullest qualitative and financial potential. Prior to joining Halekulani Corporation, Shaindlin was founding principal of Lotus Luxury Group, vice president, Caribbean for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, and previously managed such illustrious and celebrated institutions as Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay, the Boca Raton Resort & Club, The Stanhope Hotel and Grand Bay Hotel in New York City and Assistant General Manager of Food & Beverage, United Nations World Headquarters in New York.

Yoshinori Maeda

Executive Vice-President

Maeda is a veteran executive and brings with him an extensive background of asset management and hotel operations. After graduating from Keio University his career began at Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., in 1981, working in various capacities that included significant Housing/Project Developments, and Building Management in Japan. In 1990, he garnered further experience overseas with his executive assignments at Mitsui Fudosan (U.S.A.) Inc. in Los Angeles, in building development. And in 1999, he lead administration and commercial leasing of Mitsui Fudosan America Inc. properties, in New York City, including the flagship 1251 Avenue of the Americas. Maeda returned to Tokyo in 2003, to head the administration of Mitsui’s Real Estate Solution Service. In 2006, he joined Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd., to oversee hotel operations for Mitsui Garden Hotels, a division which included 15 properties throughout Japan. Maeda joined Halekulani Corporation as Executive Vice President and Board member in early 2010. His leadership responsibilities include overseeing the expanded scope of Asset Management for the company, and enhancing the hotel management initiatives of our entities.

Hiroyasu Nakamura

Senior Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer

Nakamura joined Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd. following his graduation from Keio University in 1989. He began his career in the Accounting Department, and gained experience as a corporate manager, having dealt with various aspects of the company's business. In 1992 he was assigned to Mitsui Fudosan’s Kyoto Branch and assumed responsibility of acquisition of sites for condominium development.

Nakamura earned an MBA at the Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley in 1999, then spent nine years as a property manager of office buildings for Mitsui Fudosan in the Toranomon/Kasumigaseki area, including the iconic Kasumigaseki Building, the well-known first skyscraper in Japan.

Prior to his promotion to his current position, Nakamura was in charge of corporate brand management in the company’s Corporate Communications Department.

Patricia Tam

Chief Executive Advisor

Tam has been an intrinsic part of the Halekulani legacy since 1983, during which she served as General Manager for both Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotel. In the course of her prestigious career, Tam was the first female GM in Hawaii and was later named the first female Independent Hotelier of the World.

She has been listed among the 200 Most Powerful Women in Travel, received the 2013 Businesswoman of the Year award from Pacific Business News, and won a University of Hawaii Travel Industry Management 'Legacy' award also in 2013. Her community service includes chairmanships of the Waikiki Improvement Association and Hawaii Hotel Association, and as membership in Aloha United Way.

Under her leadership, both Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotel have garnered innumerable industry awards and recognition. Today, Tam oversees all corporate community relations and vigilantly oversees the hotels’ branding and arts and culture initiatives.

Elmer Nakao

Director of Finance

Nakao directs the organization’s financial and strategic planning, reporting, compliance, and accounting practices. He joins the company with extensive executive experience in the financial industry, and was most recently with First Hawaiian Bank as Vice-President in the Institutional Wealth Management Division. He has also held various international positions with Citigroup for 25 years, with assignments in New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, where he was Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer. His previous work experience included positions with Salomon Smith Barney in Hong Kong, and Coopers & Lybrand.

Nakao holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California and has also attended the University of Hawaii. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® professional. Born and raised in Hawaii, he is also fluent in Japanese.

Liana Mulleitner

Director of Marketing

Mulleitner is responsible for all aspects marketing programs and initiatives, as well as Public Relations and Communications. Mulleitner’s extensive background includes management experience in the areas of hospitality marketing, public relations, as well as hotel operations and residential services. She most recently served as Director of Residences and Public Relations at Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach, since its pre-opening in 2009. Previously, she enjoyed a continuing evolving executive role at Prince Resorts Hawaii for almost 20 years, first in operations, then assuming the company’s position of Director of Corporate Communications. Her responsibilities included the recent relaunch of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel where she led all aspects of its marketing programs.

Dara Lum

Communications Director

Lum is responsible for all aspects of communications for the hotels and corporation. She brings 14 years of communications experience to Halekulani Corporation. Most recently, she worked at McNeil Wilson Communications, the public relations division of Anthology Marketing Group where she represented Hawaiian Airlines, the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association, Prince Resorts Hawaii and the Kauai Visitors Bureau. Previously, Lum served as the media director for the Hawaii International Film Festival. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Hawaii Chapter and handled the public relations and marketing for the Visitor Industry Charity Walk for 12 years.
