Private Portal Sessions with Visiting Master Ray Carbullido

As part of the Explorations of Self  Visiting Master residency, Halekulani introduces Private Portal Sessions, an intimate, one-on-one experience within Portal, an immersive installation by Ray Carbullido.

Inspired by the spirit of inquiry and design notes found in the work of Leonardo da Vinci, Portal is a mirrored chamber that was conceived as a space for observation rather than interpretation. Though modest in its exterior form, the interior opens into a seemingly boundless field of reflection. From a single position, one can witness their own image extending into infinity, offering an unfamiliar vantage point from which to observe the body and its presence
in three-dimensional space.

Led by martial arts master, teacher, and artist Ray Carbullido, these sessions offer guests a rare opportunity to experience oneself from all angles of the physical body in the horizontal plane without moving. In this way, Portal offers a space to acknowledge different aspects of oneself, where that simple act of recognition becomes a powerful agent for healing.

• Guided awareness of body, breath, and perception
• Exploration of internal relationships often overlooked in daily life
• Quiet processes that support centering, clarity, and self-recognition
