Explorations of Self
Halekulani is pleased to present Explorations of Self, an immersive exhibition and Visiting Master experience by martial arts master, teacher, and artist Ray Carbullido.
Rooted in decades of disciplined practice in internal cultivation systems including Baguazhang and foundational swordsmanship, Carbullido’s work transforms embodied movement and ancient philosophy into visual expression. Through light, space, ritual, and participatory installation, the exhibition explores the relationship between the visible and invisible aspects of our being.
Featured works include Portal, an immersive environment designed for direct experience; selections from the Light Mandala series created through long exposure photography; and contemplative works such as The Journey, The Dance, and Golden Sacred Circle.
Explorations of Self invites guests to discover a deeper understanding of how they relate to the larger systems they are a part of.
